I replaced the shell32.dll in the dllcauche folder and in the system32 folder and now everytime i start my computer explorer crashes... I tryed to rename it to shell32.bak and then bring back the original file, but when i try to rename it the task manager closes and crashes!!! please help this is a new computer and i need to know how to get the old shell32 back
Explorer and others crashes!!
You can use the Recovery Console using your Windows Installation Disk. I don't have a set of instructions, but Google should have some results.
i think that system file checker (SFC) is easier than recovery console. make sure your xp cd is in the drive. go to the command prompt (start|run|cmd) and type: sfc /scannow
good luck! (and don't mess with system files if you don't know what you're doing. sfc and recovery console are basic fixes. how is it you know enough to hose you dll's but not enough to fix them? and it's not just you. we see this A LOT here).
thanks, but everything works fine now, I have Flayakyte os installed and it ran a system files update and fixed my shell32.dll
