Help with Install

I am having problems with Installing the .4 beta.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

1 – Download zip file.

2 – Unzip to desktop

3 – Open File

4 – Run the RKLauncher.exe

At this point the program pops up a screen saying “do you want to Run”, I click “run”

The program is now running at the bottom of my screen.

But it’s as if the program is Running but not installed. If I log off or shut down the file isn’t in my “Start Menu” anywhere and it doesn’t come back to my screen upon log-in/start up.

I have gone into the behaviors and tried to check “run on start up” but the box doesn’t allow me check it.

Thanks for your help. Is there a tutorial for running the application.

To let you know, I'm running Windows Vista RC2, 1.8 processor, and 512 ram.

Thanks a lot

RKLauncher doesn't exactly install in the traditional sense. It maybe partially Vista incompatible. That startup option may simply set a regisrty entry in the Run key. It could be the way RKLauncher sets that registry key that is incompatible with Vista.

vista RC2 - my current set.up:

- RKLauncher directory under Program Files

- RKLauncher shorcut in Start.Up folder

- run as w2k/xp compatibility (run as administrator is not really needed - vista uac would ignore it anyway)

- drag & drop do not work consistantly, sometimes yes, sometimes not

- i edit itemlist.conf to add dock items (best is doing this OUTSIDE vista)

- many times at startup, u must confirm (UAC) to have it run - this is quirk in uac, but i do not recommend that u disable it as stated in many sites/blogs ... remember vista is stil in beta mode, i would not even bother with tweaking anything with it

- enjoy

cheers ...
