This is totally random: Can I wear a suit to a coat and tie event?
Suit to a Coat and Tie Event
sure you can. what's the event?
coat and tie event?
got an image of someone in a massive puffa-jacket wearing a tie very loosly....
It really depends on the event. Normally I would close this, but this could be interesting. ![]()
It's for my formal (fraternity) pledge induction : )
Uh, for us non-US college students, is that like a club initiation?

then why do you need a suit? aren't they going to make you pick up a grape with your butt cheeks?

Be careful, I see those on the news all the time. Usually Barbara Walters has to ask them had happened to them, its kinda awkward.
Wear a suit that looks as nice as possible while being as cheap as possible. I'm sure you're joining a respectable organization, but being in college, I highly doubt they expect you to have a full-blown ensemble ready. Plus, the cheapness comes in handy if your fraternity decides to wreck whatever you're wearing.
We have a few frats on campus, most notably are Chi Phi and Zeta Beta Tau. Chi Phi is respectable, takes 2 months to pledge, and has high standards and wouldn't wreck anyone's clothes. ZBT takes 3 days to pledge (the third day is partying), holds a booze party whenever possible, and would probably wreck someone's suit in a heartbeat.
Good luck either way and have a good time!
