New Video Card

I'm trying to upgrade the video card on my 800MHZ P3 HP computer. It is currently using onboard intel graphics. I can't seem to get it to run correctly, I've physically installed it right, but I'm doing something wrong with it when I try to get it up and running...can anyone help with some advice?

I;m assuming you are installing an AGP or pci card, If you are you have to disable the onboard graphics, otherwise the two will conflict.

You need to turn off Onboard graphics in the BIOS.

ok I will give it a try, it is a pci card....I did try to turn it off the last shot I gave it, but I had a tv tuner card in one of the slots and it was conflicting with it. So I took it out. I think by this time I was getting tired and making errors... I will try it again... thanks..

if it's anything like my old hp computer, i'll give my experience. the best i could do was disable the onboard in device manager and reduce the memory allocation in the bios. there was no actual setting to disable it. i had an hp pavilion 7940 with the intel 810e chipset.

good thing i built a new computer! onboard was such a pain.
