Windows won't shut down

I have installed Flyakite, and unfortunately...my computer no longer shuts down. I press Alt-F4, the dialogue to shut down pops up, I click "Shut Down" and.....nothing.

I have searched the forums but the answer evades me. Is anybody willing and able to help me out? Thanks guys!

Press shut down button/ hold it for a few second?
