Connect Mac to PC

When I connect my Macbook to my PC via Finder's Go > Connect to Server function I see all of my shared folders. I can open a shared folder and see all the items in that folder. There are two problems:

1. a lot of the files don't open because of "not enough privileges".

2. a lot of subfolders contain nothing when opened up, even though they do have contents on my PC.

Am I doing something wrong?

Check your file-sharing permissions on your PC. Also, if your Mac asks for a username/password when connecting to the PC, treat it as though you were logging onto the PC itself. If you log on as a guest, you'll have restricted privledges.
