Safire hasn't yet been upgraded to support 2.0. Most themes haven't. The only Mac-like theme I can think of that has is the mediocre iFox.

For what it's worth, Macfox (which isn't a Safari-like theme) should be updated pretty soon with 2.0 support.

When, I get some time, I'll update my themes for 2.0.

It should be pretty easy to modify those to be safari like.

You can install this plugin http://users.blueprintit.co.uk/~dave/web/firefox/nightly

install it and when u download the SaFire skin just choose to install it with Nightly and it will work....nightly allows u to install plugins and skins of previous versions on newer version of Firefox if u need any help just IM me XxSpyderFenixX

I kind of like the default theme in Firefox 2.0, but when SaFire gets updated I'll make a switch.

Sorry, but that won't work with themes. I mean, technically it will, but the theme will be horrible. Firefox 2.0 added a lot of new UI that you simply can't carry over from a 1.5 theme. There's no getting around it: we'll have to wait for themes specifically built for 2.0.

when does the 2.0 officially release, i heard tomorrow afternoon.

you can DL the new firefox 2.0 official here:

@ShadyApple

Yes, official release will be tomorrow.

#425878

As proenca noted, 2.0 is officially out right now. Any time Mozilla creates a new folder under the releases category on their FTP and puts files in there, it's officially released. The reason they're waiting until tomorrow to announce it is to give various download sites time to set up their mirrors.

Now that 2.0 is out, we'll hopefully see theme authors do the necessary work and update their themes for 2.0... though I have a dread feeling we'll see a situation like we did with 1.5, where a lot of themes are simply abandoned.

#425904

yeah i know what you mean, i hated updating to 1.5 when i realized certain themes werent going to be updated as well. but its their problem for staying with a older 1.0.7 version, and for what looks....please.

If anyone wants to create a running list of Firefox 2.0 Mac themes, be my guest. I'm sure other members would love it too. :)

#425945

From what I can tell, the only 2.0-compatible Mac theme is the iFox series. Sadly, iFox sucks. It doesn't even properly show the new UI (such as the dropdown notices in the Add-Ons window.)

Here are some themes that will work on Firefox 2.0. They are for Mac OS X only though.

Actually this method does work , if you are willing to put a few userchrome edits to fix the glitches

and another note is that you dont need nightly

simply open the xpi/ Jar file with winRaR and modifying the max and min version values defined in the file install.rdf

i made a FF2.0 extension for hacked themes to skin the search bar to look like OS X

there is also a link to a hacked SaFire theme which works with FF2.0 with a minimum glitches:

see this post for the details

you could try using that as a temporary fix before the REAL version comes out
