Tristinian's iSync Mail Checker for Samurize
Screenshots of this seemed to garner attention and a few folks asked for it so here it is. This is more of a tutorial than a release considering that I can't really package this thing up and hand it out so that it works flawlessly on any comp. You have to set this stuff up and re-configure some paths before you can get it functioning because it's using Start and Stop scripts etc..
Essentially, the point of this little item is to sit there on your desktop with the uptime and Drive space displays at the bottom (you can remove these or change them at your whim) until you double-click the "sync now" button, at which time, the bottom portion of the iSync module appear to kinda open up, and check your mail, letting you know how many messages you have. Double clicking the "sync now" button again "closes" the bottom portion up again. Check the image below:

Now what's really happening is that Samurize is just opening a second instance of itself to display the "open" portion of the skin, which means that some alignment is going to have to take place to make it look like one unit.
You'll need these files HERE
In the rar file you'll find 2 scripts, 2 configs and two pngs.
1-Open up the script files in notepad and place the proper path to your samurize installation at the tops of them and save em. Do NOT change anything else in them. Place them in your Scripts folder and place the pngs in the Skins folder.
2-Open up the config files and go through them, changing the paths that I've marked to correspond to the paths you're using in your Samurize config to refer to the files mentioned. ALso change the mail server information to correspond to your own. Once you've saved them, place them in your configs folder.
3-Place the pngs in your skins folder if you haven't already from step 1.
4-Start up Samurize and load the isync.ini config. You should see it on your screen with the uptime displayed at the bottom etc. Move it to a spot you want to keep it on your desktop and right click the Samurize icon in your taskbar...go to "position" and make sure that "normal window behavior" and "locked position" are checked off. You don't want this guy to move.
5-Start up a second instance of Samurize and this time load up isync2.ini. Make sure that under your position menu that this little guy is set to be "always on top" because you'll want it to appear on top of the other version, not below it. Place this version so that it's flush with the first instance. In other words, it should look identical to the first instance except look like the bottom bar has jutted out. (you can also just change the coordinates of this instance to the ones that are in the isync.ini...that way it'll be RIGHT on) Once you've reached your desired position for this, select the "locked position" option so that it will never move. THen right click on the taskbar icon for the second instance and exit it.
6-You should now be able to double click on the "sync now" button causing the 2nd instance to turn on, giving the pseudo illusion that isync has opened up at the bottom, checking your mail. You should be able to double click the "sync now" button again to close the instance and effectively close the mail checking item.
THis isn't perfect because of obvious limitations with Samurize and such (no dynamic images yet...can't wait), but it looks nice enough and has function...mail checking.
You can always add and delete meters as you see fit as you would with any other Samurize skin.
Hope it works for all who wanted it. This is my first time trying to write up this type of thing so if I've made mistakes or something's not working please just tell me what's happening instead of writing "OMG, it's not working! WTF!" so I can help you.
For all of you familiar with Samurize and Alderic's Start and Stop beta script maker, you can configure your own scripts if something's not working the way it should.
I hope at least someone figures out my mumbo jumbo and enjoys it. ![]()
