[help] Getting Rid Of The Square Yellow Folder

Hi

could you tell me how to change that ugly square folder that turns up when you set your view in explorer to thumbnail mode?

it only shows up when you have a subfolder with pictures inside it.

i guess it's icon group 4 on shell32 but i dont know how to change it.

will you please -help-? THNKS

Go 2 shell32.dll, it's icon 4! (the icon with 96x96)

yes i :know: but all the other icons are fine (i.e. blue) only the 96x96 is yellow. how can i chng only that particular one?

also they dont apear in the icon folder, only in the icon group (and there's a bunch of them) on number 4. my 'icon' folder doesnt even have a number 4 icon.

(i'm not sure if i made any sense but i guess you get the picture)

-------thanks------

no no no, dude! You must open the systemfile shell32.dll with the program "Reshacker" and load the file in it. The surf to "bitmaps" and look at icon 4. extract the icon from file and edit it with a iconeditor! Is this 2 heavy 4 u?

#40287

extract the folder from reshacker open it in GIF movie gear and load the 96x96 icon you wanna replace it with save the icon and put it back in the shell32

#40295

basically, you have to use ResHacker to change the icons. i wasn't sure if you understood that from your post. open up Shell32.DLL in ResHacker, and replace it in accordance with Iceman's tutorials. got it? good.

Peace,

Felix

Like this?

I used a mix of Iceman's & flyakite's shell32.dll, yes, the yellow folder is in either 004.ico or 005.ico, I forgot. I replace the icons with Microangelo. Hope this helps.

whoa, buddy, i dunno how they do it where you're from, but can we keep porn out of desktop pics. (i mean, if they were hot, id understand, but... :D )

Judge: You will still get the yellow one until you add a new file to each folder. I had to do that to every folder I had pic in, just paste a small file on top of each folder (change will take effect instantly) and then go back and delete it any time later. I hope this helps.

Extract the main icon 4 and open it with iconworkshop. Then open the 96 pixel icon you want to use to make new. Copy the new one and paste it over the yellow one in the first icon. Save it and replace it in shell32. That is all you have to do. And the only way it will work. I guess you could use something besides iconworkshop if you don't have it. If you changed any other icons you will need to restore shell32 to the way it was before you follow my instructions.

I'm not sure about which folder icon is actually used. It could be in the icon cache and possibly clearing it may bring in your new one. But not sure what effect clearing the cache will have on all the other icons. It can be cleared in IconPackager. Not sure if IconWorkshop can maybe view the cache with out having to clear it. It would be nice to know, one way or another. I would like to know what you eventually find out.

Bump:: I see. it's in Explorer.exe. Thanks.
