pointer shadow with vista cursors?

i have a dual boot set up at the moment. i went to the cursor settings on xp and i changed my cursors to those found in my X:WindowsCursors vista installation. for some reason, i cant get a shadow on the pointers...

i know people will say shadows slow down the computer and arent really necessary, but the cursors look somewhat flat...any explanation of why they don't work, and has anyone else tried this?
