Slow desktop - Avedesk problem?

I've posted this problem before but didn't explain it so well since it was new to me at the time.

I have it for some time now and it's grown a bit annoying. To get to the point:

When I minimize ANY application so that the desktop gets shown, it takes about 2 seconds from the moment I click the mouse to the moment the app minimizes and the desktop appears.

If I minimize the application but there is something behind it besides the desktop, meaning another application window, the problem does not appear and the change is instant. So it only appears when the desktop is shown.

I managed to track the problem to Avedesk, meaning that if I close it, the problem dissapears and the desktop gets shown instantly. I tried messing around with it, moving it's folder and registering it again, changing the settings from the ini file, but with no luck.

I don't know what this could be or how to fix it. Can someone help?

//EDIT

I think I narrowed the problem down to some desklets.

You see, I have some shortcuts on my desk which point to each drive's root.

I have 5 of them in total. It seems it doesn't matter wheter they are set to show the percentage of space left or not, just them being there makes the system slow down when it has to show them.

Anyone else having this problem? //EDIT

no problems here mate,

try unloading one desklet at a time and see if performance gets better

incidently, have you tweaked your windows? as in with regedit, disabling unneeded services etc?

OK I finally managed to solve out my problem, making me an extremely happy man right now.

Ave, you might find this interesting.

It turns out I was mistaken , it had nothing to do with the desklets I mentioned above, but with another 2.

The problem was that I DECREASED their SIZE values, meaning width and height, from 128 to something like 70 in order to make them smaller.

That was the cause of all my lag problems when it had to show them. Increased them to 100, problem solved.

I don't know why it was solved at 100 and not 128, maybe there is still an unnoticeable performance hit or maybe it only happens when you decrease it too much...

It would be interesting if you guys could try this and see if you have the same problem so we could help Ave with the next version.

Just make several shortcuts (5 would be ok, only 1 isn't such a big performance hit, at least on my machine) and decrease their width and height to 70 from 128.
