Skins, Skins, And More Skins

Well seeing as how nobody seems to be developing any good musicmatch or winamp3 skins basked on OS X, I'm taking it into my hands to come up with something. This winter I'll have a whole month to do nothing so I pretty much plan on sitting on my butt listening to music and skinning.

I'll be creating a WindowBlinds skin based on Iceman's Jaguar visual style 2.0, and a musicmatch and winamp3 skin based on iTunes. The musicmatch skin interests me because the library basis itself off of id3 tags instead of just displaying "artist - title", plus compact mode can be made to look exactly like itunes compact mode. Winamp3 iTunes skin interests me because of how unique winamp3 skins can be.

So hopefully look for some new skins sometime around the end of January. I know that's a long time to wait but it will be worth it.

I have some large screenshots of iTunes as reference, but I would like some better pictures so what I could really use is some very high resolution screenshots of the iTunes interface. I would like some mouse over pictures of the buttons and anything else that you don't normally see in a normal screenshot. good luck with winamp3 it's a doozy to skin.. i've tried and suceeded to do most of the basic skinning stuff but to impliment anything else (like the ablility to switch between playlist and visualizations/video, on the same screen), that is tough.. one of the reasons i've totally givin up on winamp for qcd player..

if i knew how to do that i'd have the itunes winamp3 skin done...arg.. oh well..

I'll just stick to finishing my apple DVD player skin for PowerDVD (which should be finished very soon )

flyakite - Very best of luck with the iTunes skin for Winamp 3. I think that W3 has huge potential to provide a fully functional iTunes clone. But it will be bloody difficult to get there. W3 does need to sort out it's pig ugly playlist buttons though.

You could use iTunes3 for QCD as a template for your W3 skin. The mouseover and button depressed states of the buttons are slightly different in the QCD skin (because of QCD's button behaviour) but the Add button works just like the real thing and could be used as a behaviour model for the other buttons.

neXus - I'm with you on the Winamp 3 thing. I think that today QCD is a much more useable and elegant player than W3.

please please try to make i-tunes and quick-time skins....but, i simply can't wait till jan!!! more quickly, if you can...

have searched and searched the net but no availability of an itunes skin for winamp3...actually i am using winamp 5b - ....and i cant wait to get itunes onto it....groovy baby, yeah!!!

While apple's i-tunes may look great, it doesn't have so many features and plugins of winamp and adding files and playing them is such a drag..and worse to make a playlist....i simply got fedup of clicking...so i am sticking to the fastest, smallest, and coolest program - winamp 5 rocks!!!!
