to applecare or not to applecare!!

I don't think you need it. When I got my macbook (5days) ago, I didn't buy the applecare. The total for my macbook was $1,299 now think.. how much it would be when you add the applecare. You can buy the applecare later on and add it to your account.

It's friggin' expensive. Why buy it when you have A-S? ;)

Just a tip ;)

Don't buy the Apple care when you get the machine, just once you get it register your mac and Apple "will" call you say 10 months down the road and try to sell it to you at a cheaper price. Was around 100$ for my iMac G5's.

hey, i worked at an apple store and trust me, paying the amount for apple care is fine considering the costs of replacing hardware. The price of some hard drives alone to replace costs more than apple care itself, and the fact that you get it free with apple care tends to be a good thing.

My suggestion, buy it when or if you have the funds :)

Buy it when Apple doesn't have shortages of MacBooks and parts. My screen had an interior scratch, which had me worried, so I gave it to Apple a week after getting it. They took care of it with AppleCare, which meant they kept it for a month "waiting for parts" only to return it scratched up (some light, some exactoknife-depth). When I called Apple back immediately, they accused me of damaging it and refused to replace it until three hours later and several managers up.

Get insurance instead. Safeware?

I'd say get it when your warranty is about to expire
