I was wondering those of you who have a macbook or macbook pro, what is the longest time you had the laptop on for?
Macbook Uptime
on highest or lowest brightness....with which battery?....standard or black market battery? with what processor speed?
Who cares? It's up for as long as you don't restart it. I regularly sleep my computer when transporting it, but don't shut it down for weeks, unless a system update dictates I do.
@ zondajag : Normal brightness, I guess? Standard battery. The same processor speed that you get in macbook and pro.
@ gnomexp : Doesn't the laptop get very hot after leaving it on for hours and hours?
Not really.... I leave it plugged in if I'm not using it in class.

That's not really good for your battery to leave it plugged in.
Well... I use my laptops as desktops and if the battery dies in 3 years, I get a free replacement. Plus, whenever I get my MacBook back from Apple, AGAIN, I'll have a second battery since I kept it.

Oh yes it is!
Most modern laptop/phone batteries are lithium ion/lithium polymer batteries. These have a limited number of charge/discharge cycles and are better off kept plugged in. There is a particularly good article somewhere online, but I can't find it. Have a mediocre one instead: http://www.laptopbattery.net/notebookbatteries_life.html
About a week. I still have 512 MB of RAM, and regardless of what I hear about about more stable Unix operating systems, I like to give it some time to cool off. A week seems a comfortable compromise.
@Sci-Fi--I've never heard of this discoloration problem. Did you find out what it was?

Well Apple doesn't recommend it, and that's what we're talking about.
