Mobile Broadband Access for Macintosh Laptops?

Hi Guys,

I want to purchase a Mobile Broadband Access service since I need it for some tasks I have to complete when I am not home, and I am not in a wireless hotspot. I am from New York City, and I recently just found out (by looking on the website) that Sprint has stopped selling a few of their mobile broadband cards, one of which was compatiable for Mac OSX. Does anyone know of a Mobile broadband access provider that is available in NYC, or if Sprint is willing to turn service on for me if I buy the card that is compatiable for the powerbook? Or would my best bet would be for me to go to a reseller of this service? I didn't get a chance to actually go to the Sprint store in my area to check if they are still selling the cards at the store, so I will still check. If anyone has any advice or any service providers that I can use that would be great. Thanks for your help in advance guys!

You could just call the 3 or 4 service providers directly- either through their company 800 number, or get faster service by calling the retail stores themselves. You could also get a cell phone service that offers high speed data transfer and connect that to the laptop via bluetooth- again depending on which provider offers the service.

Thanks, but the thing is, I do not know of any wireless broadband services other than sprint, cingular and verizon..are their any others?

I just checked, but unfortunately they do not offer it...just wifi hotspots that you have to pay in order to use.

this doesn't do what you're looking for?

granted the card isn't mac compatible, but it doesn't seem to be limited to just hotspots.

plus, if you look around, you can find hacks or work arounds to get incompatible cards to work- especially if you have a macbook or pro
