Aqua-Soft ForumsI'm trying to decide between Y'z and Moby and I'm almost sure I'm going to use Moby. But there's one main thing I'm annoyed with. Can I add any more seperators other than the one that's there? I'd like to seperate things like drive icons, apps, games, and tasks. And put the moby control panel/clock/recycle/weather in their own spot. But I can't seem to do it.

hm, the dock is essentially made to replace the icons on yer desktop.
In either case its all shortcuts to applications in your HD, only this time its all thrown into an orginized eye candy dock.
I dont really see any reasons to classify something that is already put together in the best way possible, orginized in a dock. So there has to be a point where we look at the basic needs to luxurious ones. Having more seperators is great but on the expense of look and feel i wont be willing to pay that price.

It's hard to recommend a dock. All the docks do a wonderful job. They are not perfectly the same as the MacOS X dock simply because the OSes are different. It is a matter of choosing the dock that has the most features and performance that is acceptable to you. Some people claim that one dock is faster than the other (but this depends on your set-up/components). Others find one little aspect that is so irritating they need to use another dock. Others don't see anything wrong or see very minor flaws. It is all an individual decision and so try them both or the three if you have a copy of the discontinued one. I can guarantee you that all 3 docks will make the PC navigation much easier and friendlier.
I really don't know why this was moved from the MobyDock forum. I originally posted there to see if adding seperators was possible, but it was moved.
I know the dock is made to replace icons and that is what I'm using it for. MobyDock has everything I like BUT I can't add seperators like in Y'z. I like organization. I was just explaining how I'd like to organize.
But Y'z is missing the taskbar. So I'm torn between the two.
why not making an icon that looks like a seperator, so drag it down to the dock, LOCK IT, and have fun.
Also if you dont like this idea, why not having all things sort out by your choice from the seperator all the way to the end of the dock ?

I personaly want a pure os x emulation as much as possible. Therefore I'll try to emphasize the importance of the look and feel + functionality resemblence of certain apps to the os x as much as I can.

I just don't like the un-organized feeling of MobyDock. Like the new weather 'docklet' can only stay on the left side of the seperator, when it's not a program icon. Should be on the right with the other 'docklets.' Seperators would be so nice. Other than that, it's great! Love the tasks and everything else.

FYI, the real thing doesnt have any real docklets but all the weather, 8 ball 'docklets' THERE, are on the left side of the seperator, since they are small tiny applications after all.
You gotta understand that in the osx dock the items on the left are PURELY APPLICATIONS (packages). You cannot just have any files there. On the right, you can have shortcuts to everything (folders, HDs, documnets, songs), EXCEPT an application. Its like a secondary option to link to individual files you might be using often. Regardless it also shows the running APPLICATIONS (from the left part) minimized.
So the right side is kinda more like an extra area where you have pure shortcuts and running tasks, whereas the left side is LINKED TO APPLICATIONS PACKAGES and nothing else.
Mobydock (and also OD) follow that trend, though moby has the exact pop up menus commands and functionality.
ANYWAY, all docks are great.
