Gapless playback for us old school iPod users?

I have a second generation iPod mini and I was wondering if anyone knew any hacks that allow the previous iPods to have gapless playback. This has always been a pet peeve of mine and since the new ones came out, I've been wondering if Apple will release a firmware update for the older iPods to have gapless playback.

I would rather have a solution for this rather than just going out and spending another $200-$250 on an iPod just for the gapless playback feature.

So my questions are:

1. Are there any hacks to fix this?

2. Has anyone heard of Apple plans on improving us old school iPod users?

PS: Most, if not all, of my MP3s flow into one another from being mixes. :slant:

Seriously, wtf. I know you have something personal against me, but you can confront me via PM over that. Plus, it has nothing to do with the thread.

There are no plans to add gapless playback to older iPods. At least, none that we know of.

Your best bet is to wait and see for as long as you feel like holding out. If there isn't a firmware update, well, buy a new iPod.

Kind of sucks, but hey.

Hey, I refrained from updating the firmware on my 4G iPod for about a year and a half because the newer firmwares removed the ability to have auto-updating Special Playlists. I was pleasantly surprised one day to find that the latest firmware brought back the feature.

So, you never know :).
