Wisdom Teeth Removal

Not sure how many ppl here have has this surgury done. But if you did, post your experience here:

I just had it today, and i was sacred of being put under anestesia because this was my very first surgury. But it wasn't bad at all because the oral suregon gave it to me thru an IV so I didn't even get scared when he said it would sneak up on me. The last thing I remember him saying was that I would be thinking "what the hell is this man doing here dancing and singin?" *he had a iPod in his office!, well his room..lol but still he was really layed back which made me really confortable.

That was thie last thing I remembered and next thing I know I was awake and ready to go home. I was a little off balance at first but was quickly able to walk under my own power. I was fine until I got home, then maybe a hour after iI took some medecine and had something to eat, the pain kicke in! ARGH it was hurting sooo much!!! (because for my bottom two they had to drill and remove them because they were impacted). I had to take some vicoprofen (it's something like vicoden but not as strong I guess, but still addicting) I took one dose of that, took a nap and i just woke up maybe about 30 mins ago and the pain is gone, not completly but it's a whole lot less than what it was earlier. I had mine taken out about 3 years ago. I remember they gave me laughing gas, knockout drugs and valium. I remember laughing my arse off when they were injecting me with the drugs. and i woke up during the middle of the surgery hitting the doc's hand while he was cutting my teeth out.

I remember waking up after the surgery...I was so out of my mind on the chemicals that they wheelchaired me down to the car. I also remember getting stuff alot stronger than vicoprofen. percocet. I didn't really take any during the healing process. but a week or so later I polished off the bottle and had quite the weekend.

I got mine out like a year ago. I went under the laughing gas and didn't feel a thing. That stuff seriously made the whole operation seem like a minute long. Laughing gas is awesome! I never experienced any pain at all during surgery, after surgery, or during the recovery. I was prescribed some painkillers, but never once did I have to take them. I guess I was just one of the lucky ones. I was bleeding a lot though.

What!? They wheel-chaired you down to your car, or did the surgery take place in a car? Either way I think you need to get a new dentist!

My dentist's got some kind of obsession with my wisdom teeth. He keeps buggin me about having them removed, although I'm having no problems with them at all, and wont in the future. Maybe it's a fetish?

I still have my Wisdom teeth in my mouth, however about a year ago I went in for dental surgery to remove a metal bar that got stuck in my gums. :confused: Turns out that somehow while I had braces, they shifted up against my gum, and my gum grew AROUND part of it!

I got an IV, and I remember that that didn't hurt at all (first time I had gotten an IV, I figured it would feel like a never ending shot, but its just a prick) and all I remember is asking when it would nock me out.

I woke up 2 hours later in the back of my parent's car half way back home. Turns out that they couldn't wake me up, so I had to be wheelchaired to the car.

I'm really really lucky. The males in my family don't have any wisdom teeth genetically. However, it mutated just slightly so not only do I have no wisdom teeth, I'm also missing my lower right molar. It doesn't exist, literally. No tooth formation, no roots, no deformities, nothing on xray. It simply doesn't exist.

i have one that needs to come out, i broke it along with molar right in front of it. been putting it off due to a crappy dentist as a child. this guy was very conservative in his use of drugs. filled a cavity with minimal meds when i was in high school - couldn't eat solid food for nearly a week.

you guys make it sound not too bad.

i got mine taken out last summer. he had to break my bottom ones into pieces because they were so compacted, didn't hurt that bad just bled like crazy, couldn't get them to stop bleeding...
