Adding audio books to iTunes 7 audio books category

How do I make all of my MP3 audio books show up in the Itunes audiobook catagory of the library? There all in MP3 format. Ive tried changing the ID3 tag genre, and cant think of anything else to do.

Is there anything around that can convert mp3 into Audible format? I've been searching but I haven't found anything yet.

you can do it using iTunes.

go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Importing, and set to AAC Encoder

Then right-click on the files in your library that you want to convert, and click 'Convert selection to AAC'. This will convert your files to .m4a format.

Now, using windows explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > View, and untick 'Hide extensions for known file types', if it isn't already.

Now go back to your newly converted .m4a files (in windows explorer) and manually change the file extensions to .m4b instead of .m4a

The files can now be added as audiobooks and iTunes will remember playback position.

Yeah, I heard about that workaround for ipods but I actually wanted to convert to aa format to play in my Muvo slim. iTunes will remember playback position for any files if you set it in the file options.

So youve got to convert them all to ACC file. Pfft forget that, convert all my audio books from the widespread readable format of MP3 to some weird propiority format used by one company?

AAC isn't a proprietary format. it's the standard MPEG4 audio format. It will work on any modern music player, both software and hardware.
