Customizing Virtual Drive Icons

Recently I started using Visual Subst 1.0 a simple virtual drive manager from ntwind software.

I've tried a number of methods, all of which seem to fail in changing the icon.

Tried:

1. Autorun Inf

2. Mountpoint Reg Hack

3. Changing default icons in registry. The default label can be changed.

Just was wondering if anyone knows of a specific solution for XP.

Have you tried IconPackager?

Granted it's not free...*ahem*, but that the only thing I can think of at the moment.

Iphile from http://www.scrow.cjb.net/ can change the icon of any drive, as long as a letter (mountpoint) is associated. It only accepts .ico files, but does the trick, and it's free (although somewhat old)

I tried Iconpackager a while back but, not with virtual drives. Neither Iphile or IconTweaker works. IconTweaker applied both the autorun (in the registry) and the default registry hack neither succeeded.

Should've bought Object Desktop instead of DX Pro last year I guess.
