I downloaded this and extracted it to the pugins folder, but whenever i try to minimize a window with the genie effect enabled, rklauncher crashes with a direct x error. anyone know how to correct this?
You have a old card, update it's drivers. Or you don't have the latest version of directx but its most likely the latter.
I have a brand new laptop, with an nVidia 7900 in it, and i downloaded the most recent version of directX from microsofts site a little while ago, problem still occurs and rklauncher still crashes
.when you download the genie effect you need to make sure that you extract the file into a temporary folder first and then cut and paste into the plugins folder. it runs so smooth on my nvidia 6600 now, the only thing we are missing now is to have both the genie and scale effects in reverse!
ok, I am getting the error although I have latest drivers and my video card is pretty new.
plus, I went to dxdiag.exe and all the tests for Direct3D passed (all 7, 8, and 9).
btw, I have DirectX 9.0c

it works fine under my vistaRC2; i just copied the whole directory over from xp partition, using vista explorer. One must confirm on security prompt when copying DLL*

Well, I don't have XP in my system and I'm running Vista 5840. It crashes every time I try to minimize a window. My drivers and DirectX are properly installed and working... Any work around to get it to work??
u can try to unzip build 275 again and copy the whole thing over using vista explorer - can't confirm for u since my vista build is still 5744 & it works under this build with zero hiccup
anyway vista is already on 5920 as of few days ago

It doesn't work for me either. I have the latest version of Direct X installed and copied the genie effect folder into the plugins folder of RK Launcher, but RK does still use it's own minimize effect :S

Which setting do you mean?
Well, by default, RK Launcher minimizes using the Scale effect (which is built in). Look around the options, and you can change this to the Genie Effect after you've downloaded the plugin.

It won't work. I've installed it correctly but still I can only choose for Scale Effect :S
Does this plugin work on XP too or only on Vista?
It only needs DirectX nothing else. Working with XP an Vista.
