My nightmare with MacBook shipping

2 weeks, 2 days ago i ordered my Macbook Pro direct from the apple website.

I recieved notifications that i would recieve it from delivery company TNT, yesterday.

After NUMEROUS calls to TNT yesterday they ensured me i would recieve my package before 6pm. After 6pm, still not package, and TNT claimed that it was accidently never put on the van. They told me that they promised it would be there before 12 the following day. 12:10 the following day I call them up, and they tell me there has been a mix up with the stock and it will be delivered before 5pm. at 3pm, we call again for an update, and now they have lost track of my package!

I called apple, who after continually talking through my, quite simple situation, resorted to passing me on to the head of the delivery team. She told me my package should have been delivered a week ago, but also that she had spoken to TNT and it would definately be delivered today. I then called TNT again, and they told me the package was 100% lost and they are investigating the situation.

After calling up apple, again... they offered me to re-send it, but unfortunately i need to have the macbook by tomorrow because im leaving home for university! They are offering compensation, and i think i will ask for a refund and go to my local apple store (a 10 minute drive) and go and pick one up.

I think this service is DREADFUL both from Apple and TNT and i cannot believe that it has taken over 30 calls, 2 weeks, 2 days.. and im still not going to recieve my mac!

I hope the compensation is enough to put a smile back on my face!

You have my sympathy...I ordered my mini from the Apple store 3 weeks ago on Aug21. I've been told I should recieve it by Sept 29.

How can such a large company like apple have such a rediculously bad service?

If TNT lost the package, why do you blame Apple?

I'm currently screaming over my 17 day (and counting) repair because of a manufacturing defect (my screen was scratched ON THE INSIDE).

I realize you are upset that you don't have your computer yet... but can you please be a little more specific as to where exactly Apple failed you? Once the package leaves their hands and is delivered to the shipping agent... there isn't much they can do. If the shipper admits to mishandling the package but is supposedly still in possesion of it, it doesn't make much sense for Apple to do anything but wait to see if it gets delievered. Once the package is identified as lost, then it is Apple's responsibility to send a new one. That said, if Apple says you will get the package in a certain number of days... and then you don't get the package, I would argue that they offer some form of reimbursement for your troubles. I had a similar thing happen with a hard drive I ordered. And once things started going wrong... there really wasn't anything that could be done because I was pissed off and nothing anybody did was going to make things better. I needed my hard drive fast... and I didn't have it... and all they could do was send another one.. I had lost several days of work... sometimes sh#t happens and there's not much anyone can do about it.

Jef...I have to agree...s**t happens...oh well.

In your case, you shouldn't be blaming Apple. TNT was to blame, Apple couldn't really do much after the package leaves out thier door.

I had a great experiencce with Apple online, they were quick to send my order. I was notified through e-mail and was able to track of the package through FedEX's tracking feature. It was TNT that was to blame, not Apple.

$hit does indeed happen. but who's ever heard of tnt? are they reputable? or just cheap? fedex and ups, them i've heard of. you could blame apple for picking a less-than-established courier. AAMOF, i'll bet tnt IS apple, or at least partly owned by them.

TNT is Dutch.. and although us Americans may not be that familiar with them, they are well known in Europe. I use them here in Trinidad to ship items to the States. Never had a problem.
