My 2nd 17" Pbook Will Arrive This Week!
2? y? y not go for pmac g5? :woot:
I only want the laptop, not into their desktops
Hope you have better luck this time H4RM. Enjoy your 17" though, amazing machine. I can't see it being bettered in the laptop market for some time. My more modest iBook 900Mhz is due to arrive with me on Friday, which I'm equally excited about.
Btw, DHSMaroon13, any chance of cutting the abbreviations down a bit? Your last post ("2? y? y not go for pmac g5? :woot:") was barely legible, especially I'd imagine to a non-native English speaker. <_<
Its here! its Here! finally, and the superdrive works like a champ. Anbyone know how to change the network workgroup from "workgroup" to something else?
Also, at work, how can I connect it to as proxy server? I want to get out to the internet thru this proxy server, and I set all the settings in the system preferences to use the proxy.
H4rM is a happy camper once again.
woohoo!! Congrats :woot:
However, I'm sorry to say I don't know the answer to any of your questions.
I never had to do those things, so I wouldn't know. Sorry..
Well, to use the Proxy server, I believe you have to make an IPtables rule.
Check out Brickhouse, its a neat GUI. Taha likes it. ![]()

I do, indeed.
And that, in itself, should be reason enough for you to check it out ![]()
Does your superdrive write CDs at 16x and DVD-R s at 2x and RWs at 1x like mine??? Maybe I'm unique and lucky, test your drive today, I want to confirm this. ![]()
Congrats (Y) (Y) BTW: I'm running Panther beta!!! :own:
Here's a tip to burn at maximum speed.. When you've configured Toast Titanium (or whatever other app you use), press the Burn button without the CD-R in the drive. Then when it prompts you for it, put it in and continue. It should now burn at maximum speed
how do I test my superdrive?

Go to the Utilities folder under Applications and double-click on Directory Access.
Under the Services tab, you should see the SMB with a checkmark beside it. Click on SMB and then click Configure. Change Workgroup to whatever name you want. You may leave the WINS Server empty. Click on OK and make sure that SMB is checked. Apply and restart.
GameboyzGB, thanks alot your a godsend!
Maybe you have an answer for my other issue: logging into a MS proxy server 2.0 network to gain access to shared folders/files and the internet. I have all the info to enter, just dont know why I get no login screen to type my username and password here at work on the powerbook.
Any help or direction to help sites greatly appreciated.
I'm waiting on my 4th one myself - :6

Man I got this mac and love it, the 17" Powerbook is a laptop wet dream.
How do I change desktop icons on it though?
Still learning to be a mac addict.
