Systray?

I'm just getting into XP modding and plan to heavily mod my desktop once I get the change to reload my PC. I'm still trying to decide on which dock to use. They all have their pros and cons. My main thought is that I'll never fully get rid of the XP start menu / taskbar. I'd always like the start menu to be available because I'll never put everything in the dock.

Dockwise, I'm leaning towards objectdock or Y'z. I was staying away from Y'z at first because it didn't work as a taskbar, but now there is a task docklet for it. Now the only thing I could use is a systray docklet. I put a lot of stuff in my systray and would like easy access to it. Anybody know if this is possible?

If you have a decent video card (GF2 or above), theres no other choice but MobyDock. Its the fastest and smoothest of them all.

Even if you hide your startmenu/taskbar, its still viewable via the "Windows" key, it never really disappears.

Contra, i have 1,4 GHz athlon, 512 ddr and gf3 ti200. Mobydock lags like hell if i compare to Y'z dock. My Y'z dock benchmark gives me around 80 fps with 128px icons. If i have Mobydock icons HALF that size, it lag whenever i open a webpage, start up a program or do something else. But when i'm doing nothing else yeah it's smooth. But still, it isn't even nearly as usable as Y'z dock.

PS. No, I have no problems with drivers or windows.

I don't like how you can't add seperators in Mobydock. It's either Y'z or Objectdock for me, but I'm leaning more towards Y'z.

If possible I'd like the XP taskbar to stop acting like a taskbar. Just have the startmenu and systray, no tasks showing. Then use the task docklet in Y'z. But I dunno if thats possible.

Off topic: How doyou make the start menu thinner? Or does that have to do with whatever style you use?

why do you need that stupid and ugly start menu? you may add a shortcut to the start menu on yzdock.

TrayModule looks ugly! A nicely skinned taskbar would look so much better!

I still haven't decided how I'm going to handle it.

a nicely skinned taskbar is just useless and takes a 'big' part of the screen.

i think mobydock doesn't support separators (yet).
