Dual boot

hey everyone,

i currently have xp on my computer, and i want to put kubuntu (ubuntu with kde) on my computer. i used partition magic and resized my partitions, and backed everything up. i tried looking up how to setup a dual boot, but everything i read seems to be more confusing that the first. can someone help configure a dual boot system?

PS- i don't want to reformat my hard drive

the easiest thing to do is boot to the live cd, and install kubuntu from there. if you've already partitioned your drive, then just make sure you select the partition with free space on it to install it.

it should generally have a good wizard to set up the bootloader - grub or lilo are the 2 most used ones

you'd want to install the bootloader on your MBR (which is generally on the partition you installed windows on), so that grub is your main bootloader and not the windows xp bootloader

i'll try that thanks

or just go on the kubuntu forums, search for grub
