MacBook Pro + Core 2 Duo

The new Intel Core 2 Duo processor for portables is expected to be released on Monday as far as i've heard. How likely is it that this will feature in the new MacBook Pro, and if so, how long would you expect it to be till it does?

Also, would they replace the existing Core Duos, and maintain the same price, or is it likely that they will have a high end and low end version with both Core Duo and Core 2 Duo set ups?

I'm just about to upgrade to a new one so i'm wondering whether i should wait?

Thanks in advance for any tips or ideas.

Apple always replaces older stuff with newer stuff. Core 2s will replace Cores.

There's an Apple special presentation happening at a photography show on September 25. We'll probably only get an Aperture update out of the deal, but there's always a chance for revised iMacs and MacBooks.

If you can hold off on the upgrade for a month or two, do so.

The Apple Expo in Paris is from September 12 - 16. They announced that there will be no keynote, but there could still be product releases. It's likely that the MacBook Pro will get the Core 2 Duo soon. The price usually stays the same with updates.

There's speculation that the MacBooks might get them as well, but I think they'll keep the Core Duo for now since it is the entry level laptop and needs more differentiation from the MacBook Pro. I also hope the MacBooks don't get the upgrade soon since I'm getting a MacBook today. :)

Ok, September 12th seems reasonable, though something like this isn't very major so i'm hoping the laptops may get the bump soooner in order to keep up with the competition that will no doubt implement the new chips asap.

Anyhow, thanks for the info :)
