Windows Tweaks

You can disable themes in Windows XP, thats what I did, makes a little bit of a speed differance! Recently I had to take a small break from all the aqua because I really didnt have the space to spare or the recources... heres how..

Control Panel... Administrative tools... Services... Double click on "themes" then disable it!

Or turn off visual styles in the "Visual Effects" menu. I forget the exact instructions.

Or In "Themes" In desktop Properties, choose "classic" as your theme.

disable pagefile of windoze and it'll boot faster ;)

change explorer.exe to (for example) objecdock.exe in the registry (hklm-sw-ms-wnt-cv-wl: shell entry)

In my opinion you shouldnt turn off pagefiling. Even if you have alot of ram some programs need pagefile. I ran into this problem when I was making DVDs.

unfortunately, alot of people here aren't hardware/windows geeks, and might not know exactly what a pagefile does.

When posting advice around here, it's best to direct the post as though you were talking to someone with only enough knowledge of a PC to use it for web browsing or word processing, etc..

That way, the people who don't fully understand read your advice, they'll say "Oh, NOW I get it" and it won't cause a big flame war like "You said disable pagefile, and I did, and now my computer runs REALLY REALLY slow with errors!" because they didn't know any better.
