G'day, recently, i was browsing through the forums when i came across this picture where it shows a folder with an 'empty' backing. i was wondering, whats the easiest way to acheivev this effect, which is pretty cool IMO.

it doesn't look empty to me. the arm gave that away
i think its just the same picture used as the background for the folder
i could be wrong though.

Haha thanks, chaged the tag. Oh well. but i know its possible, therefore im not letting this down ahha, i mean its pretty cool. yeah. anyway now that u brought up the arm part, yeah it looks kinda mismatched,
anyway, anyone who knows how i can make it transparent, please! let me know thanks! haha

I don't believe it's possible. That person set the background image of the folder as the wallpaper .

'tis photoshop, and im not sure but WinFX did something like that, I don't remember though
but if im not mistaken there was a specific programme tht allowed customisation of folders ( eg. CursorXP - customise cursors )

I seem to recall a program that did that years ago too, but can't remember what it was..it might have been even before WinXP was released. I remember trying it out but it wasn't all that useful too me because I usually use a "busy" photo as a wallpaper and my icon labels were always hard to read against the background...e.g. black text against dark background or vice versa
It's possible by useing a transparent .gif that you put in desktop.ini, but it doesent automaticly refresh when you move the window, you need to refresh it manualy.

has anyone ever tried to run the Winamp AVS and set the "Overlay color" as the window background color ?

can't take a screenshot because it's "overlay" stuff. I need some program probably.
Anyway, imagine those bouncy lines and drawings that follow the music, iTunes and WMP have the same stuff, but put them as background of every window, and moving

someone could make a wb5 theme with the window background gif/png totally transparent?.....or am i wrong?
i think WB5 can only make alpha-blended/transparent the window border (not the content)

sorry to ask again but i can't have a transparent background. I can have a picture but not transparent. When i try with a transparent GIF i have a black or a white background. Maybe my GIF in not good but don't know how to do. i'm usually using png or tga and i'm new in this.
So can someone point me to a good tuto for photoshop cs or upload a good transparent GIF.
I've searched on google and found tuto but not able to have a good transparent GIF
