How to hide partition

On my (future) iMac, I'll have two partitions. 1: for Mac OS X (named "Tiger"), 2: for Windows XP (named "Windows").

Is it possible to hide the "Windows" partition from showing up on my Desktop and in Finder?

I want it to seem as though the "Windows" partition doesn't even exist (in Mac OS X Tiger).

If you go into Disk Utility you can select the Windows partition and click "Unmount". If you need to get access to it for copying over a game patch or something (personally I don't let Windows on the net, and I have banished it from my MBP now) then you can always remount it.

You'll have to do this every time you boot up, but if you just sleep your Mac like most of us do then it shouldn't be a problem. Other than that, there are some very complicated Unix ways of doing that automatically, with fstabs and cron jobs and all sorts of fun stuff...

The only thing I'm using Windows for is to play my video games that aren't supported in Mac.

In Windows I'll only use Internet Explorer to get game patches, thats it.

So if I choose "Unmount", will I still be able to boot off of it w/Boot Camp, and Windows will run perfectly fine?

if you are going to use any browser on windows it should be firefox no matter what, even if you use it rarely

You could probably even set up some kind of Automator action that will run on startup (don't know if that's possible), and then you simply have to press the shift key when logging in to get around that.

Well I'm going to try "Drive Genius", looks like it will help.

There are also Terminal commands to do this.
