Upgrading

Hey i'm going to upgrade my pc and I needed some advice.

I'm interested in getting an "Amd anthlon64 x2 3800 939-Pin Processor dual core cpu"

and a "[A8NE] - Socket 939 1000HT 4xDDR400 S+L 1xPCI-X16 SATA 3xPCI 2xPCI-X1 Gbe-Lan nForce4" motherboard

or

[A8N-SLI-PRM] - Socket 939 1000HT 4xDDR400 S+L 2xPCI-X16 SATA 3xPCI 2xPCI-X1 Dual-Gbe-Lan nForce4 Raid-5 motherboard

with 512 mb ram and a geforce 6500 256mb pci-e card

could anybody please give me some advice on this as i'm unsure if there are know problems with any of this or is it a good buy i'm getting it for R3006.25 (thats south african money)

thanks

I'd say that the motherboard and CPU that you have chosen is a good combination. I think that you should get a differant graphics card, as the 6500 is already a generation old. I beleive that you should look at a geforce 7300 (maybe 7300gt or 7600gs if you have the money). I just bought a 7600gs for £65 (833.608 ZAR) and i couldn't be more pleased with the performance.

Ok thanks for the info, I actualy come from the uk and am just on holiday in south africa atm and I thought the prices here might be a little cheaper but seems not. May I ask where you got the 7600gs for £65?

thanks

I got it from Ebay, but if you look around websites like www.scan.co.uk and www.dabs.com you should be able to find one for less then £75
