Use Flash Animations as Welcome Screen

I've been using Frontmotion (visit frontmotion.com) logon screen replacement for a few weeks, but developing a theme for it is really hard and I uninstalled it a few days ago.

The cool part is:

I've managed to create a registry hack that loads a Macromedia Flash Projector file (executable file) and displays it inmediately after the login. This is a "service" running right when Windows boots, and before any app load. Only the logon screen has priority over this. Oh well... This may sound crazy, but I set the "automatic login" using tweakUI. My Flash Projector App loads inmediately after a few secs with the standard logon screen. Since my Flash Skills are limited, I cant provide a cool logon screen with this idea.

Perhaps, a "fancy" logon screen, without the security of the standard logon, could be developed by some of the flash gurus around here.

To enable this beautiful tweak:

1. Create the path C:windows_swflogon

2. Extract in there the 3 EXE files provided in the attached ZIP

3. Open the command console con that directory and type exactly what its shown on this screen:

screen1hj6.th.jpg

4. Open the registry editor and create the "parameters" key and the "application" string. Look at this screenie and copy exactly as it showns in the application string:

screen2il5.th.jpg

Close the registry editor inmediately.

5. Right click My Computer icon, choose "manage" and go to "services". Look in the list for the "swfscreen" service and open its properties. Go to the second tab and check the box shown here:

screen3cf1.th.jpg

It should say something about allowing this service to interact with the desktop.

6. Reboot

7. Say "khalua is awsom"

To disable this beautiful thing:

Right click the service, and disable the default start in the properties

How to create your own themes?

Use Macromedia Flash and create your own full screen projector. Generate your own exe and replace the YAY.EXE file provided.

Many thanks to Google.

Thanks bud, I'm working on a full app to replace the logon and I expect a beta test soon with a few people. Wish me luck! This is going pretty good :)

That's amazing, I would wait for our Logon Replacement App... but it would be nice if we can create our own logon screen in Flash and use it with your App.

Couldn't someone create an osx like flash animation for everyone?

#411778

In fact with this upcoming hack, you could use any SWF file to show it as a logon screen. This wont have the security that the standard logon screen has.

Until now, you could give this tweak a try, coz you can use your own flash projectors as a logon screen or welcome screen. Just create your own flash animation, generate the projector exe file and then rename it to "yay.exe".

The idea of someone to create an osx logon animation in flash for everyone would be awesome. I'm a registry hacker and a photoshop guru... but my flash skills sucks lol.

I can take care of Flash Part Khalua, the only reason I didn't say this before cause it's really hard for me to commit due to my busy office schedule.

But then I realized that, since this is Flash (which I can create on my iBook from home at free time in night, and generate projector on my PC). PM me and maybe we can create something cool.

I created my flash exe, but it wont boot fullscreen T.T

what do i do?

You need to set an action in a keyframe with the FS command telling the stand alone player to start in Full Screen mode. That's a bit of actionscript in flash, that iGo can handle way better than me. That's why he will create a base skin to work with.

#412508

Ok, i see thanks alot

btw, to get the screen to close do i enter fscommand("quit"); } on the last frame?

EDIT: nevermind, I got it Thanx

#412528

.. :D this sounds amazing... let me just clarify;

this is logon screen not bootscreen?

If this applies to bootscreens it means we can finally have a twirly apple loader (Flyakite?) on that grey screen.

#412532

yeah, its a sort of splash screen after the login screen

#412541

you could try to imitate the 3d cube effect :)

#412551

This is an awesome idea. Kudos to both Khalua and iGo. If you guys can pull it off, that would be absolutely incredible.

The first proper use of the "How-To" tag I've seen so far :P. Nice tutorial!

;) thanks for all the comments. I crashed my PC recently trying to do a full-logon-replace, so I guess this may take a little longer than I expected. Until that, I will release soon the official tweak to show the splash screen after the login. However... If you dont use the login screen you will see this flash animation right after the default boot screen.

#412650

this is gonna be so cool!!

#412656

I cant whait to see some people releasing their flash screens here!!

#412672

I have a question, is this supposed to appear right after windows logs in? because sometimes i have to wait a few seconds before it comes up. and is this tweak your talking about like a program that will easily apply the tweak?? just wondering

#413183

The app i'm working on replaces a few routines and loads the logon after the system, right after the winlogon.exe process. If your winlogon.exe process is hacked this could appear after the main boot and you could completely use this as a logon screen. I had several problems with the beta and I'm recoding some stuff.

If this gets too long, I will release a simple app to tweak automatically all the settings and Install the app with support for external SWF files. The beta app is being developed these days.

cool, sounds awsome
