Well Actually this is not a software issue... seems to me you real problem is your hardware ( HDD - hard Drive) As a Windows User you need to make sure to scan your system, your hard drives for bad sectors, etc... This is what could be happening to you:

You have some bad sectors in your PC and some of the information (data) of this pack was written on it, Windows writes on bad sectors of your HDD but then it can not read the information (Data) resultin in a system failiture... Bad look... Try to be more carefull next time

Now you should format your Hard Drive and start from scratch. Not too bad thoe cos' after that you will be able to install the pack with no issues ;)

Make sure to format your HDD with the Full Format option, I know it takes longer but it is way more secure...

Good luck

Thanks alot but only 1 problem i cant load the windows xp disc to format the drive and i cant get into windows!!!

#410913

and how exactly do i scan my hard drive for bad sectors?

Thanks alot but only 1 problem i cant load the windows xp disc to format the drive and i cant get into windows!!!

So I'm assuming you are not able to get into the Windows Console to run fdisk or anything like that... is that correct??

If that's the case you could try creating a boot disk with the pc you are currently using and boot up into MS Dos to do a full format of your Hard Drive... that should let you load your drive back again...

If that is the case then download a boot disk.exe from here: http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

Is a little program that will create a bootable floppy disk for you. Make sure to download the Windows 98 Boot disk. Do not use the XP one... Good luck

#410918

thanks alot for all the help youve been great but i was wondering is there any way that i can just boot into windows by changing the setup i have read around and people have been saying things like change the voltage to the hard drive lots and lots of different things but do you know a config to let it just boot so that i can then fix it?

#410919

and no i cannot get into the windows console

#410920

my bios version is 1.14 btw

#410921

Ok I need to know a few things...

Can you tell me what happens when you drop the Windows INstallation CD in your CD drive and boot from it??

About the hard drive voltage, I have never heard of such a thing, Actally the HDD needs an specific voltage to run, uppering or lowering voltage (that's if that is posible which as far as I'm concerned it is NOT) will fry your hardware....

when i put the disc in and change the boot order the disc drive starts making a horrible screping noise about 5 times with a 2 second pause between each one then it starts trying to boot from the hard drive

#410925

If your hardware is making scraping noises its time to get some new hardware. Sounds like its beyond repair to me.

Anyway its obvious this is not the fault of FlyakiteOSX. You guys should maybe continue talking over PM instead of posting multiple times in this thread. :)

Well anyways... The HDD could be dead but you should still be able to boot from the CD Drive or at least reeive a message telling you about the HDD failiture like : hard Disk error or somwething very similar to that...

I'm on msn right now... you can IM there at yoni5002@comcast.net or start sending me personal messeges here cos' they are already complaining for our posts...

Let me know... I'll try to get this done with you...
