Which Macbook?

First post here :)

I'm looking to buy a Macbook for college but wanted to know if it's really worth getting the 2.0GHz option with the SuperDrive. Can anyone tell me if there is a huge performance difference over the 1.83Ghz option ? I'll be upgrading the ram to 1 gig either way. Like I said, it's for college work, iphoto, etc.

Are the Macbooks on sale right now Revision B or later? I don't want to buy one only to return it a few weeks later.

Thanks!

I don't think the speed difference is that much. Maybe it will save you a few seconds. It's really up to you if you think you'll need a DVD burner or not.

i'd suggest you go for a 1.83 ghz and use the extra money to get some more RAM.

The speed difference isn't noticeable really, I myself got a 2Ghz and compared to my friend's 1.83Ghz, I would say they have the same specs.

same problem for me here. i will be buying a macbook for college but there are rumours how a macbook and macbook pro hardware upgrade release as soon as early september. a possible upgrade from the current core duo (32-bit) chips to core 2 duo (64-bit) chips.

i want to buy one now with the offer of a free nano, yet i don't want to buy my macbook if there is a new one coming so soon. any comments or hardware updates u've heard?

Steve Jobs told me that they're going to use Atari chips instead of Core 2 Duo. It's legit information, no rumors! :o
