a) Get FlyaKiteOSX, which will replace the system icon for the Volume (among many many others)
Are you using ObjectBar? If so, right click the System Tray and choose Customize Icons In The System Tray.

I just tried it and it worked, but I'm using Kol's Tiger 2 WB theme and I don't want to change that taskbar. I have the icon already saved on my harddrive. Isn't there a way to change it without using objectbar?
Only with Flyakite, or doing it yourself with reshacker. Here, replace this file with the original stobject.dll
You do this by renaming the file in C:WINDOWSsystem32 to something else, name it something like stobject_BACKUP or something
