I just have a question to ask related to Apple Hardware. I currently have a Powebook G4 (most recent addition), and I have a 80GB HD. If I wanted to have it's HD upgraded to a 100GB HD, is this possible? (I mean by getting rid of the 80GB HD, and installing a 100GB instead to replace it) Thanks!
yes, it is.
You can simply swap the drives, but you'll have to do one of two things. Either totally reinstall your system from scratch, or get a firewire enclosure for your old 80GB 2.5in drive, boot from it, and clone it to the new 100GB using disk utility.
Thanks guys. Gnomexp, that second options seems like a better idea to go with. Will the folks at the Apple be able to do this for me? And is doing this by myself a easy job to do, or a difficult one? Thanks again you guys, you are all very helpful.
if you have an ipod that can work too. theres many guides that tell you how to do this. check out the macnn forums.
Just google your model of Powerbook. It will probably involve removing the bottom casing with a special screw driver (that you can get at any computer store or online, and at some hardware stores), unscrewing the old drive from a fixture, and sticking the new one in in reverse order.
There are guides readily available for your specific model on the internet. Most also have plenty of pictures too.
