Modding/Customizing Miranda IM

Well... I am a total noob as far as miranda is concerned...

Could someone tell me how to add smilies?

Then, how can I skin the gui?

I searched a bit, but whatever I found was to difficult for me to understand...

[searcher for some other miranda thread, found none fitting for my question]

go here http://addons.miranda-im.org/

get the plugins that suit your needs.

for contact list- try clistmodern

for message window- try scriver+ieview

for smileys- try smileyadd

I made a walkthrough for Miranda that is getting a bit outdated now, but the basics of it still hold, and it might help you get started anyway.

Ditto Aleph, you definitely want to use scriver/ieview and smileyadd together, it's the one fairly foolproof way I've found for adding smileys. It doesn't seem to work with some smiley files though ( some of my .msl and .asl files don't work) although I think there may be a way to hack those files so they'll work, I just haven't put the time into it.

Ieview will allow you to have themes for your individual chat windows, and the clist modern plugin will let you skin the actual buddy list that sits on your desktop.

Well thanx a lot for the help :D. Miranda is a lot better now... But is there a way to show smilies that a contact sends but I don't have? I mean... If a msn contact has a smilie binded at :G I get to see :G instead of the smilie... Can this change?

No, there is no way to have your contact's smiley's sent over to you, just can't do it over the protocols Miranda uses....I don't think you can do that with any program that I know of, unless I'm just missing something.
