WWDC 06 Discussion
I love the idea of Time Machine. I can't tell you how many times I accedentally saved over something. I am to know how it looks like with screens.
well... you can read this to know how fast these new meroms are compared to current Yonahs.i wanna see how much faster the new core 2 duo memron processors are on the new macbook and macbook pros then the yonah based ones out today.
Anyone know anything about the Xeon's? Specially how they are on the windows side of things...
Mac Pro
Dual 2 2.66 dual core Xeons, 1 GB, 667 MHz FB-DIMM. 250GB HD. Nvidia geforce 7300GT (256 MB VRAM) and 16xc superdrive for $2499 avalible now
Xeon are to Pentiums... like what Dual G5s were to G4s (So I've heard).
Basically Xeons are high-performance Server/Workstation chipsets (True Multithreading/SMP kinda stuff), while pentiums were Desktop chips.
Now, Xeons(Woodcrest) are upgrades along with Core 2... so now Xeon comes with Dual Core and Xeon can be used in Multi-Core, Multi-Processors configs. (Something like we had in PowerMac G5 Quad).
Besides all that...... this new feature, Time Machine !! Sounds like concept of System Restore in XP, but with a la touch of Apple and much more advanced.. ![]()
BWHAHAHAHA Apple Store is OPEN! http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore/
You can buy your mac pro now! ![]()
Oooh, btw: http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/

bigger L2 cache, faster clockspeeds and FSB was expected.
WOW... umm yawn,
That was the dullest in 3 years. Maybe 4.
But the new Mac Pro's are nice, especially at £12,000.
Isn't this cool new feature "Time Machine" basically System Restore from Windows- that has been around since 2002? who's copying who? heh
and Spaces? what crap.
this wwdc wasn't that impressive- i was hoping to hear about running windows apps directly in osx. feh.. i'll cross my fingers for the next keynote
Wonder what you can upgrade on the Mac Pro... Video, HDD, Memory? Apples crap is so overly priced its insane.

Wrong...Time Machine lets you restore documents and files that have been "deleted" as well as backing up your files, whereas System restore lets you restore system files and settings.
I might not be reading this right, but doesn't it basically say every file you've ever had on your Mac will be backed up? And they backup changes that was done. How can they do that without using up a lot of space?
not "Wrong"
it's the same idea, just vamped up with additional features and cheesy Star Wars-like graphics. awful.
don't be so quick to point the finger-
and i just customized a mac pro with every single most expensive option available.. comes out to $18,481.00!! only $437/month on Apple Credit!

In other words... you have another application that will eat HD space by not really deleting anything.
Time Machine is a fancy product name for backup. Oooooohhhhh innovative... NOT!
Been around for decades... they just put a pretty UI on it.
Cool icon though.
Hell even Windows 3.1 had backup software. Not great, but it had it. :slant:
Spaces... WTF?!?
It's called multiple desktops... big deal. Been around forever on many other OS's.
Again... nothing innovative.

I'm very dissappionted about them not releasing a new iPod, I have money just ready to be spent on a shiney new iPod
Why would they release an iPod at a Developer Conf? they do stuff like that in Sept (Paris?)
Why would they release an iPod at a Developer Conf? they do stuff like that in Sept (Paris?)
Just thought they would because of all the rumors around this day..
I guess I'll have to wait another month... :slant:
Time Machine sound like hell for people with porn on their computer ![]()
Yeah, its so cool. But its so expensive...I better start saving...
I cant wait until the next edition of Mac OSX comes out..Im so jealous at those developers that went to the event...
It would have been good if Apple had a 1X dual core 2 GHz CPU option for the base Mac Pro configuration; this would have dropped the price to ![]()
I am sure we will see some exact duplicates of that very same icon around the next few weeks (or months for that matter). Im sure we will all be pleased. I know I will. Hopefully.
