Overlay Problem

Hi to all,

I know that this is not an emulating-related topic, but this is my favorite forum. ;)

I´m working with a MSI S270 subnotebook with an X200 (ATI) graphics adapter. Since a short time,it´s not possible to view movies or TV in a fullscreenmode, but in a window-mode all works fine so far. Except in the preferences while viewing a movie in window-mode, the letters (it seems that all things which are black) are transparent and I can see the movie through the letters in the pref´s-menu.

I reinstalled the graphicsdriver, after that I installed the newest graphics driver from ATI, I installed (again) the last DirectX 9.0c. Without any changes. The problem exists since 2 months, before this time all worked fine.

Can anyone help me please, what is wrong with my MSI? I´m not a ****ie with windows but this problem I can´t solve. THX in advance. (Excuse my bad English pls, I´m from Germany!)

What do you use to watch videos?

Is this with VMR7/9? or basic overlay?

Try using Media Player Classic and play with the rendering settings.

Also you could try using a non-vfw program like videolan etc and see if that makes a difference.

I have that glitch with overlay graphics apps, like avedesk, objectbar, rklauncher and even windowblinds 5 transparent themes. Try to disable all those apps and try the full screen video playing, that way you could evaluate which app is making that wrong.

Is not an overlay issue. If the overlay doesnt show in fullscreen by drivers or internal problems, it shouldnt show on a small window either. This is not your case, so in my opinion, is just a problem with a transparent-layered window, like the konsposé mode or the showcase function from avedesk.

Hope this helps.

OK, thanks for the answers. I´ll try these days. I was sure, that it was an overlay prob, but maybe it´s with Yz Shadow, or RKLauncher or any other app using transparency.

I´ll have a look, if it´s helpful. THX for the fast replies.
