A while ago I must have played around with custom Windows welcome screens where you choose a user to log in as. My problem is I no longer see the application installed that I may have used and have no idea how to revert it back to the usual Windows XP screen. Anyone have any ideas?

So now when you have to login, you have to manually type in the user name and pass? It sounds like you disabled the welcome screen in user accounts.
Go into the control panel -> user accounts > user accounts control panel icon -> change the way users logon or logoff -> make sure Use the Welcome Screen is checked.
That should work provided I understand your description of the problem.
Why not download the trial of Style XP and then once installed, go to the "login screen" section on the left and then find in the list "default windows XP login" (or something along those lines) apply it and then uninstall style xp and the original XP welcome screen will be back and should stay....

Not sure why someone should have to install and uninstall a program to do something that can be done through the control panel... *shrug*
I already know all about enabling and disabling the welcome screen. I'm not that dumb. :-) My point is the welcome screen (where you select the user and type in the password) now has a different background and looks pretty ugly and buggy. Does StyleXP change the welcome screen? If so, where can I download it so I can revert to the Windows XP defaults?
My biggest problem is I'm not sure which program I installed way back when and I just found out now that the welcome screen was different when I chose to add another user to my laptop.

Ah, the description was a bit vague, wasn't quite sure what the problem was.
I use LogonStudio to make my logon screen nice and pretty. It has an option to restore the WindowsXP default if you decide not to use any skins.
you misinterpreted me... style xp changes the welcome screen/login screen (they are one and the same), and allows you to choose custom 'backgrounds' for the welcome screen, allowing you to revert back to the default windows Xp welcome screen if you wish.
the one that appears before this is the bootscreen which is black with white writing and a windows logo by default.
