[Help] Using Reshacker

I'm try to use reshacker to edit my shell32.dll and replace some of the AVIs that pack made. Trouble is, I don't know the proper way to do it.

Do you have to close explorer and edit both the shell32 file in system32 and the dllcache (kinda like when you replace entire system files)?

Thanks.

i'm a ****ie, and i'm also trying to reshack my shell32.dll.

i searched the forum and even visited iceman's site, but i can't seem to find answers.

so how can reshack it, because everytime i save it after reshacking, it wouldn't work. do i need to make a copy of my current shell32.dll to some other place, edit it then follow iceman's steps to replace it?

thanks.

once you edit the shell32, you have to save it to the desktop first then replace it.

in %WinDir%\ServicePackFiles\i386 rename it to shell32.dll.bak

in %WinDir%\System32\dllcache rename it to shell32.dll.bak

in %WinDir%\System32\ rename it to shell32.dll.bak

the drop the one you edited into the %WinDir%\System32 directory

you will then get a File Protection popup. Hit 'Cancel' on the first popup and the 'Yes' on the second popup

reboot and rebuild the iconcache
