Good Firefox Skin Needed

Currently, I'm using the Dobee's Tiger V theme, with the Smooth Metal substyle, and I'm in need for a good firefox theme that looks very close to Safari. So far, the theme I'm using is Synergy, but as you can see in my attachments, I have a big problem. With SaFire, the brushed theme doesn't match the titlebar. With styles such as Eternal Aqua theme, the URL toolbar color doesn't match the bookmarks toolbar, and it's annoying. Anyone have any good idea's for me? iFox never matches, the theme goes white, and doesn't match the titlebar. Amalgam is fine, but I hate that compact menu button... Anyone have any suggestions on Safari like Firefox skins for me?

If a theme is fine and there is one element you don't like, it is pretty easy to mix and match elements of the theme (aka replace the compact menu with one you like) :P

The compact menu button on amalgam can be chaged to the apple via a simple userchrome edit. No need to hate. ;) Read the deviantart page.

Good luck!

or use the streamline theme?

Good luck!

I think he's referring to the discoloration of the menu, rather than the icon.

"Amalgam is fine, but I hate that compact menu button"

Sounds like a button to me, not a menu. ;)

Edit: Forgot to mention that amalgam was expressly made to be used with Dobee's Tiger V theme. It's not my favorite Firefox theme, but it should fit well without any problems and most everything can be tweaked or re-worked in some fashion, especially the compact menu button, which is an easy userchrome edit. It's one of the beauties of Firefox.

Besides, if you're posting on a customization board, you might want to learn how to customize things... even on a basic level.

No worries. Try streamline, like shockme17 said.

And again... good luck. :)

... Whoops.

Yeah, I misinterpreted thanks to that attached screenshot's discolored menu... d'oh.

A lot of people are mentioning this 'Streamline' firefox theme, and to no avail, google wont exactly find it for me. Anyone have any links for it?

#404728

Err, Steamline wouldn't work with my version of Firefox.

I have version 1.5.0.4, and it says it only compatible up to 1.5

#404775

Odd..you might have to edit the theme yourself so it is compatible with newer versions of FF.

#404783

. . How would I do that :P ?

#404792

daddy do it for me daddy do it for me..

streamline, how to change the compact menu icon, and how to upgrade your version can all be found on aquasoft

Well, Shockme17, I never said I didn't like the compact menu icon for Streamline, if you read my actual posts. I'm sorry I don't know anything about skinning firefox, so you don't have to become an asshole and assume that I want everything done for me. Just a quick "here's the page that tells you how to do it" would be kind, and I can take everything from there.

search for firefox skinning guide

If you have any questions after reading that thread, just add a post onto the end of it with your question.

People get a little sensitive with searching around here, just don't take too much offense. Time is dealt with in nano-seconds, so I guess it's too hard to just type a small answer. ;)

Ok, well, shockme17, sorry about that little comment before (the asshole one), I guess I was just a bit grumpy :P

This is what I got from that 'Skinning Firefox' guide..

IMPORTANT! - Themes made for Firefox 1.07 or not specifically for 1.5 will NOT work with a simple version bump. They must be restructured and rebuilt. Ask the original author if this is an issue. Same goes for getting the Fission extension to work properly. The author of the theme must build it to accomodate that extension. There is no easy fix.

So I guess I'm screwed with using that Streamline theme?

#404850

Yeah, not sure what you can do. I would help build a new theme, but I'm out of that business. If you have winrar installed and are willing to put in some time, editing themes and tweaking them to your needs is not too hard to learn.

As for an easy fix... doubtful for now. I just switched over to OSX and found Eternal Aqua Safire looks like crap. I had to tweak it a bit to get it to play nice. Little things really bother me. :)
