.NET=Browser Earthquake

I've had both copies of the .NET Framework in my comp for several months, and aside from the unrelated Windows/hard drive death lately, had nothing happen.

So the other day my dad installed .NET 1.1 for a program he needed in his computer. And ever since,

1. WMP on his comp (and he also tried 11 here) forgot how to play DVR-MS files, and

2. He's been having this WEIRD problem when he browses in Firefox. Occasionally, but annoyingly often, the entire webpage in the browser does this weird shaking motion, as though the World Wide Web was having an earthquake or something. Sometimes refreshing it does the trick, but sometimes it takes 3 or 4 refreshes to stop the quake. Sometimes, nothing stops it. wmpplugins.com's license page and his ISP's home page are most commonly having a 'WWW earthquake'.

Not sure if this problem's going on in IE, but it's a bizarre thing I can't seem to fix. The obvious reinstall and uninstall of .NET isn't cutting it.

Anyone have any idea what's up with this?

For the second problem, turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar,in case it's not displayed, and put any shortcut to a website there. It's a firefox known bug, but placing a shortcut in the bookmarks toolbar should make the shaking stop

ff is known to shake if you have an empty bookmarks bar. add something to it or turn it off.

Will it play them at all? I had a problem with WMP playing my videos in a very dark setting. Even DVD's would play like all the lights in the movie were out. If thats your case, try this:

Goto:

Tools

^Options

^^Performance

^^^Advanced

Then uncheck the following options

-User video mixing renderer

-Use YUV flipping

-Use RGB flipping

-Use primary surfaces

That's my point. It USED to play DVR-MS without a hitch, but after it won't open. Period. It gives a codec downloading error instead (which doesn't make sense in itself) and only plays the audio.

The bookmark thing did the trick though. Thanks. Also explains why I wasn't seeing the bug, because I've had things in my toolbar from the start.
