Has anyone had serious problems after uninstalling?

When I uninstalled flyakite, it seriously damaged my computer. I can't open programs by clicking them, Internet Explorer does not work, I can't install or uninstall programs, I can't do a system restore. I've asked many people at Sony's (my computer) support and none could help me fix the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Nope... everything is completely restored after I uninstall FlyaKite OSX... maybe it's something else that's messing with your computer?

I'm 100% sure it's not something else. Ever since I uninstalled the program I've had all of these problems. Before that my computer was running fine.

Other people have had problems, yes:

Sadly, we can't seem to find a comprehensive sure-fire solution :(.

Possibilities:

Re-install Flyakite, and then uninstall using the method given in the FAQs on his website

Back up your data and reinstall Windows

How come you can't do a system restore? Can't you start System Restore from the command line (How-To Here)

Hope this helps,

When I uninstalled (and I'm still having CRAZY problems with internet explorer and apps lagging) that happened to me too. It turned out to be windows not respecting the .lnk shortcut files that it uses for everything. You can download a registry fix from here: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

I'll go on record too as saying I'm someone who's pretty careful about installing other stuff and that installing/uninstalling flyakite has left my machine pretty well hosed. Internet Explorer still won't work correctly, and I've still got file dialog window customizations of some sort that are in place even after the uninstall.

@nightcrawler:

I've rolled back using system restore to a point several days before installing flyakite and everything is still out of whack.

To try to retrace my steps I was first hit with the "installer locks up then never moves again" bug, then uninstalling, when that didn't work using system restore and then trying a registry cleanup app.

If anyone knows a reasonable next step for people I'd love to hear it (and personally, if an app's uninstall process ends up including "reinstall windows" it leaves me with some serious questions).

This has happend to me i am currently trying to find a solution i have tryed re installing internet explorer aswell. may i also add that when i had it installed it was not working properly either it was still a windows and only a few extra things. at that point my wireless network connection was totally disabled and i had to re enable it. At the moment i would say that this program is very dangerous for your machine if i were you i would not install it as there is no way to fix it or at least i dont think so anyway, without formatting your computer which is what i am about to do now

You have been warned

Hi guys, for all those people that may have issues after uninstalling the pack here is a solution...

After uninstalling the pack if you have any issues just do the following...

Take your XP Installation CD and drop it in your CD/DVD Drive. Feel free to close the installation window if it comes up

Click Start/ Run and type "sfc /scannow" without quotes and hit Enter.

Do NOT use your system during the scan. Once the scan is finished just restart the computer... Everything should be fine now ;)

For users with problems with IE. If the sfc /scannow didn't fix the IE issues then you need to re-install IE, here is how to do it:

Click Start/ Search, select All Files and Folders.

Select More Advanced Options and place a checkmark beside Search Hidden Files and Folders option.

Make sure that Search System Folders and Search Subfolders are also checked.

In the All or Part of the File Name box, type "ie.inf" without quotes

In the Look In drop-down menu, select C: or the letter of the hard drive that contains the Windows folder.

Click the Search button.

In the search results pane, find the ie.inf file located in WindowsInf folder.

Right click the ie.inf file and click Install on the context menu. It may ask you for the XP Installation CD, so have it handy ;)

Reboot the computer when the file copy process is complete.

That should fix the IE issues...

Hope this help...

Enjoy

when i installed before it was version 3.0 i just installed 3.5 and now my cd rom drive is bust and my pc wont boot it gets to the bit with the apple when it is loading (usually where it says microsoft windows xp professional) then flashes blue and restarts help!!!!!!

Boot up in safe mode and use the System restore to revert all changes...

After that if you wanna install the pack again make sure to run a disk clean up, defrag your hard drive, Run a registry cleaner, make sure your hard drive don't have any bad sectors (ScanDisk)

I bought a new laptop 2 weeks ago-

and I installed Flyakite 3.5, anyway I uninstalled it today and I had the same problems.. I couldn't open programs, files were missing, my Mcafee antivirus didn't work anymore, kept saying that files were corrupted, and coulnt do a restore point. When I clicked on Restore Point.. it didn't even open, it was so frustrating, so I had to use the cd that came with my laptop and format the whole drive :( sad..

Now my laptop is back and running excellent.
