cannot delete tracks in itunes

For some reason I cannot clear songs in Itunes. I got Itunes 6. How to fix this?

Deleting from the playlist is actually only removing from the playlist. Go to the library and remove the track if you dont' want it to show up anywhere.

Could there be an .m3u file involved? If you import a folder containing both the music files and the m3u file, you'll end up with duplicates. Either import only the .m3u, or delete it from the folder and import it instead.

You can Shift-Delete in a playlist to delete the file as well.
