[Release] System Preferences

just to say fre@k released a prog that imitates the syspref panel of OS X, & therefore replace the usual Config Panel by linking to the concerned Windows prog (right clik for config), have a look

sysprefs.jpg

you can download it here

ieub,

That looks quite neat...thanks for the posting it here...will have to give it a go! I have WinXP SP1, but assume it would work with both XP's...(with SP1 or without)...lol...with Pack's 'Mod of Mods' files coming in the near future, I think that there will be a lot of SP1 D/Ls in the next coming weeks!

;)

P.S. Hey it's only (285 kb), and going to try it right now...

#37727

it works very good, is there a way that when the control panel link is pressed on the start menu it executes this application? It works great.

#37728

@gahbmwM5 : of course it works with both SP1 & non- SP1 cos basically it just links to the different windows config dialog (& i also waiting anxiously pack's release ;) )

@cho008 : i don't have any idea, maybe somewhere in the reg... anyway i'll ask fre@k if ever he knows.

#37734

works great!

Thx

#37746

Thank you, ieub :own:

#37750

At last!

We've been waiting this SOOOOO long.

Is there a way to have each link highlightetd when clicked on?

#37759

Yeah that would be really awesome. But this is still a fantastic app. Good work man.

EDIT: Oh btw could someone make a Panther style background for it?

hey dude i there any way to cuStomiSe this thing , i mean i have Y'z dock & not object dock so id like to set the configrations right , so ill be really gr8full if anybody can set this right for me :)

#37814

Just edit the config.ini. You can set the path there...

#37815

No need to modify the config.ini. As previously mentioned, just right-click on the app and it will come out with a configuration menu.

#37822

This rocks!

#37831

sorry for my bad english, :( i´m a german :D

i have a problem with the app.

see the pic,who can help me?? please

#37846

Well I guess I am the first to make a skin for System Prefs. I was looking over some pictures of Panther at another site and saw that they had changed the background and a few icons. So I reworked the background and changed the security icon to Panther's new one. This is the result.

Panther%20skin.JPG

You can get it here.

You will have to edit the skin.lst file in the skins folder. Just add Panther under Blue. Than you should be able to choose it as your skin. BTW if someone can host the skin that would be great. I can only keep it on this server for a couple of days so if someone wants to host be my guest. I will leave it up for the holiday weekend but Monday I will have to take it down. Hope everyone enjoys it. ;)

#37848

hehe it was not made by me "Fre@K" is the author, u should thank him only :), just to tease you guys...new version coming soon ;)

@darkpark : just put the file VB6FR.DLL included in the zip in your WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 folder

#37880

After running it 10 times I get a

"Runtime error "7" Out of memory"

Delete, reinstall even reboot don't help?

I have 320 ram.

Edit:// Even running it from within the zip it gives the same error.

How does it do that? Run 10 times and then give that error. Even after reboots.

#37882

:surfer_dude: It would be great if this thing had a link to the System Icon that is in XP for device manager and stuff..

#37894

I've run it several times and didn't get any error. I did get that error the first time I moved it from the desktop to another location. I had to use regedit to delete all the instances of sysprefs. It works after that.

#37896

GameboyzGB,...

There are no instances of sysprefs in the registry. I moved it from the desktop too, that is why I get the error.

Where is it in the registry, I cant seem to find it.

#37903

quote from skylinerliner34 on the aquaxp board

I've sorted that problem. :)

Ok copy the file 'comdlg32.ocx' into your System32 folder.

Then run this command line >>> 'regsvr32 \WINdows\system32\comdlg32.ocx'

And then you shouldnt get that run time errors. :)

it should work after this.

#37904

wow this is great
