Aqua-Soft ForumsFirst, it was the new drive. Now before I can even pinpoint if it's got a problem, this happens.
As of a couple of nights ago, my computer suffered a Hard Drive Stroke and died. Or maybe I should say Windows killed my old hard drive. I dunno which yet.
Anyway, story goes like this.
I was trying to use some backup app to restore my stuff to my new hard drive (Acronis to be exact). But I couldn't get it to do its job. So, annoyed, I didn't want to see a trace of it ever again. So I hit a restore point to back it up to before I even installed the stupid program. It takes a weirdly long time to restore. Reboot. Turns out it didn't restore. Me angry. Me try again. Stupid thing freezes in the middle of restoring this time. So i pull the plug on it (which would be a BAAAD idea even though I had no choice). Big mistake. I reboot, BOOM! the damn old drive won't boot. Instead it bluescreens and reboots, starts to load, bluescreens and reboots, etc. etc. in this neverending sick loop.
Now I tried copying the data from the backup and pasting the Windows files over the ones that are obviously screwed up. I reboot to the old drive. it boots but all kinds of @#$% is missing yet it IS there. For some reason, it appears to be looking into the wrong drive for 99% of my programs. The old drive was marked E instead of C like it's supposed to, yet before the C drive was the drive I booted from, and it alternated depending on which drive I was using.
I don't know wtf is going on, but I want this fixed. I have got to find out if this new drive has a problem but i can't right now because it's the only bloody drive I've got to boot from with a fresh green hill installation of XP.
I want my pretty Mac desktop back!
And before you ask, yes I tried CHKDISK.
