SATA HDD Problems

Hey guys I just bought myself 2 samsung spinpoint Sata HDD's. Problem is, windows won't recognise them. I have a Via Raid utility which does but when i go into explorer they dont display. Also one these are working i need to copy the data from my IDE hard drive over. My motherboard is a soltek SL-K8AV2 if that helps. Can anyone tell me how i can get these working and then if there is any free or trial software i can use to create an image and copy it onto one of the SATA HDD's ?

Are you using them in RAID setup? If so, you needed to load the raid drivers from a floppy, before installing XP. If not, I suggest Samsung's or ur motherboard manufacturer's knowledge base.

A, you need SATA drivers.

B, if you want to put your primary OS on the SATA you may need to have scsi has the first boot device not hardrive 0

The SATA drivers should be on one of the discs that came with your mobo, likely a flopy.

You may want to use nlite to create a personalized copy of xp and add the sata drivers, sp2, your user acounts, internet settings, remove un wanted crap such has messenger. And perhaps use themepatcher for 3rd party themes to your new personalized "unattended" xp cd.

Ok i realised that the disk had not been initiated and i've sorted that out. Thanks for the help I managed to find some software called DriveImage XML and its all working except the pc wont boot on the SATA HDD. I've tried changing the boot order and doing a repair install and its not working so i've asked a friend if i can borrow a copy of drive image 7, so hopefully that will work.

If your HD is bigger than 138 GB, XP sometimes don't recognize. You can use BigDriveEnabler command in your registry editor.
