Network Monitor Docklet Development

Hi there,

so finaly my Delphi SDK is working and I am developing a network monitor. I've just seen that another person is making something similar on DT² forum, anyway I will finish this one to learn how it works.

It uses the CPU monitor icon, so change it to this one if nothing appears. I've not extensly tested it, I hope that you will be able to. Graph is decomposed in two subgraph, upper one for DL and lower one UL. The scale is logaritmic and auto adaptative, I'm not completely satisfied yet with colors.

Test it!

wow, great docklet man.

I'm testing it for you :D, and still working fine.

BTW: someone have a nice monitor background PNG instead the original YZ's one??

Good work. (Y)

Very GOOD!

For some reason I can't access the download site... :(

The meter docklet made by decade (on DT²) seems to be causing Yz dock to freeze up on me (see my post in the thread at DT²)...I'd like to test out this alternative and see if it works better for me...guess I'll try again later to download it.

very nice docklet!

Nice docklet!

I have few sugestions to improve it:

1) The colors... you swap the order: start with green and goes to red

2) You may add like a activitie monitor... like a blinking light...

3) Here you can see some applets that I used to have when I was using linux... they are great and may inspire you: http://www.bensinclair.com/dockapp/showsty...hp3?show=images

Peace :D

In fact colors are :

red - yellow - green - green/blue (cyan?) - blue - purple - white

Red is 0, yellow 1,000, green 10,000, cyan 100,000 and so on. For example, I have ADSL, when it's green, I know that everything is ok with emule, and if it's nlue, I know that somebody is downloading a movie on my LAN :). I keep your great ideas, for next week :)

Thank you for support, I will try to do my best!

See ya

Hi Gaby,

I added your docklet to www.yzdocklets.com! Great Job!! (Y)

Gaby - take a look at the pic below...can you explain why my d/l speed is orders of magnitude greater than my upload speed, but the docklet shows almost identical colors for both graphs?

I get this odd problem of the docklet "freezing" the dock in the "active" setting as if the mouse was still over the icon even though the mouse is no longer over it.... odd.... I am running two instances of Yz dock though....

odd.... I just completely shut down that instance of yzdock and started it again... it "seems" to be working fine now...

Hi,

I will try to work again on it tomorrow. I lost the source (!) of the plugin, do I had to rebuild it this evening. Hopefuly, my ultimate object unit was ok, so it was not to much work to interface :D

I fixed that UI problem by setting graph max to maximum of both, so now we can see the difference. I think also that I will perhaps change my graph function. Today it's log10, but sqrt or even linear should be purposed.

Now it's time to sleep :)

See ya
