Hi. I just purchased an iBook G4 (YAY!).
I'm looking to create my own podcast, but I need some help with GarageBand.
Anyone willing to help or give me tips, I'd really appreciate it!

Is there a Microsoft-Word and Microsoft-Excel type program on Mac OS X Tiger v. 10.4?

About ala-Office apps: you can try OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/ + you need X11) or NeoOffice (http://www.neooffice.org/) - a MacOS port of OpenOffice.
Both work well with MSOffice files.
Also you can use Apple Pages (part of iLife'06) to wirk with .doc files.

Apple has a nice multimedia tutorial covering iPhoto to iWeb...
Here's the link to the GarageBand tutorial, you can find out about PodCasting in general using the menu on the right..
You have two softwares for Word-Excel :
- Pages and Keynote which is not included in iLife, you have to buy it
- Microsoft Office 2004 which is the port of the Office suite from Windows PCs
Then you have the open source softwares as mentionned before.
Concerning Garage Band, you can look at the help file or google search, I am sure you'll find what your are looking for.

it's simpler to use than garageband and has all the features you need. plus it has a beautiful interface that feels right at home with a mac 
Open Quicktime.
Choose:
File, then New Movie or Audio Recording...
the rest is simple.
Why do you need 3rd party when recording is built right in?
And is it really that difficult to open an FTP client to upload something?
