Hey all,
OrderOrganise is the first application I've made that I feel is good enough to release.
It will only appeal to a very small number of you, if any!![]()
Many thanks to styrizo (http://styrizo.deviantart.com - sorry, I can't work out links!) for the icon!
I had to make this for a Year 12 Software Design & Development major project over a year, so here are the results. 'Snapshot Software' is not a real company, it was just made for the project.
Purpose:
OrderOrganise has a very specialised purpose that will mainly prove useful for those working in professional photographic studios.
Fundamentally, it streamlines the tedious process of transferring digital JPEG image files into colour and size folders (a prerequisite before they are sent to a lab for printing and arranged into the client’s album).
OrderOrganise has many advantages over using traditional means of transferring and lightly manipulating images using Windows Explorer (among other programs), such as the use of profiles, simple but effective file-management innovations, and the overall low resource usage of the practical and user friendly application.
Features of OrderOrganise include simple timesavers such as custom colour and size templates so users no longer have to create various folders for each colour and size they encounter – they are created automatically. Another innovation is the ability to scan directories and their subdirectories for JPEG images. Further, the Source folder’s contents may be locked which allows users to scan selected directories while keeping (and alphabetically re-sorting) the last scan’s entries in the list. The straightforward dual pane interface showing source and destination folder contents allows for quick drag & drop transferral once all required images are listed. The Source folder is selected through the tree display, while the Destination folder is selected through two simple dropdown boxes.
OrderOrganise does not attempt to be a complex image manipulation application nor a complex file management system; instead it directly focuses on the task at hand – it offers basic file transferral operations as well as extended functionality specifically designed for photographers creating an album. OrderOrganise saves users from having to open various programs to perform commonly required tasks such as previewing, rotating, flipping, batch renaming and deleting images; all of which can be easily accessed within the program.
Why I created OrderOrganise
From my experience working at a photographic studio moving hundreds of images from source to destination using Explorer windows, I thought that this would be a useful product for everyone in my position. Using the traditional method, each album on average takes about 4 hours to complete and I believe OrderOrganise can cut this time significantly. I hope to work on extended functions such as Watermarking.
Previews/Screenshots:
The screenshots were taken while using WB (KoL's Tiger) and Y'z Shadow.. so it doesn't look like that unless you're using WB etc. however it allows WB or anything else to skin it.
If anyone would find this useful, I'll release it! Some may like to use it just to gather images, but its not really optimised for this purpose because you have to create profiles
.
Critisism more than welcome; but please tell me if you want this released!
